Here’s what I’m up to right now…
I just moved to Austin, Texas and am settling in to my new home in a new city. My work travel has largely paused (and ALL international travel has paused), so I’m having to be vey creative about what adventure looks like.
I’m working from home (which isn’t new), but so is everyone else (which is).
I’m a big fan of routines and am the best version of myself early in the morning. I start every day with my blue mug of iced coffee, and I’m typically at my desk by 6 a.m.
I’m in my second season of a very intense online trivia league, and it teaches me something new every single day. I also joined the Texas Rowing Center and try to spend as much time as possible paddling on Lady Bird Lake.
I’m working on…
A brand new website for a nonprofit client.
And another new website for another nonprofit client.
A monthly giving program.
Op eds about the longterm effects of the coronavirus on global hunger and education.
All the Giving Tuesday prep (yes, already).
A series of special sections for the paper.
Lots of blogs, emails, and social media about all the things.
I’m reading…
Boom Town by Sam Anderson
The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver
Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs by Chuck Klosterman
I’m curious about…
The history of systemic racism in the United States — and what we can do to dismantle centuries of oppression. My reading list is long and I have so much to learn.
The future of work (and gatherings and culture and retail) post-coronavirus. Things are never going back to the way they were.
World War I. History has never been my strong suit, and I have a big gaping hole in my WWI knowledge base. I must have missed that chapter in school.
